Our Roots
Empowering youth through outdoor adventure and growth
Our Why
We believe the outdoors can transform lives. At Roots to Peaks, we create safe, guided adventures like hiking, fly fishing, kayaking, climbing, camping, and team-building that will help youth build confidence, strengthen connections, and reach new heights. We're a nonprofit supporting kids and teens who’ve experienced trauma, helping them find hope, resilience, and community in nature.
Though we're still preparing to launch, we've already begun building partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to meet kids where they are. Together, we'll explore, rediscover joy, and build a path toward healing.
Our Founders: Ty & Becca Trapps
Ty and Becca Trapps created Roots to Peaks with a simple but powerful vision: to help kids and teens who have experienced trauma heal and grow through the beauty of the outdoors. Ty, who grew up just outside Washington, D.C., understands the longing for open spaces and the peace of nature amid family challenges. Becca, raised in Boulder, Colorado, saw firsthand how time outside can build confidence, provide comfort, and foster connection in her students. Together, they combined their backgrounds, skills, and passion for youth to create a nonprofit that gives kids what they need most: a safe place to find strength, friendship, and renewal.
Why Support Roots to Peaks?
Every child deserves a chance to heal, grow, and dream beyond their pain. At Roots to Peaks, your support makes that possible. With your help, kids who have endured trauma can experience the power of the outdoors, the support of a caring community, and the guidance of trusted mentors. Your gift provides gear, safe adventures, and programs that build resilience and confidence. Together, we can help kids find new hope — one hike, one campfire, and one mountain at a time.
Where We Serve
Roots to Peaks is based in Colorado Springs, where the Rocky Mountains offer kids and teens space to explore trails, forests, lakes, and peaks that inspire peace and resilience. We’re starting here but plan to grow across Colorado and beyond, partnering with schools, community groups, and local organizations to bring healing through guided hikes, camping, and outdoor adventures.
